Shoes for Miles 2019
With your help, we have collected more than 3,700 pairs of shoes since 2015 for kids and families in need. Our family is humbled by the community's generosity in helping us honor Miles while shining a light on CHDs — family, friends, fellow heart parents, colleagues, teachers, schools, local businesses and many others.
How to donate shoes
*This year's shoe drive has ended. Please check back next February.
To participate, please take NEW kids’ shoes to these locations during business hours Feb. 4-18:
This year's shoe drive is for NEW shoes only, intended for toddlers to teenagers. Practical shoes suitable for running and playing and the cold weather months are needed most, such as boots and running shoes. Used shoes cannot be accepted.
*Please help keep shoes in pairs by using a rubber band or by tying the laces together.
Why shoes?
We often take for granted the miraculous wet engine that propels us forward in life -- the human heart. Some babies are born with broken hearts and must fight for survival from birth. Much like our hearts, our feet work incredibly hard for us. Not everyone has shoes to protect them from cold, injury, and disease. This campaign urges others to use their hearts by giving shoes to those in need.
Who will benefit?
Shoes collected will be given to the Foster CARE Closet of Nebraska, a nonprofit that gives new, donated clothing to abused and neglected children in times of crisis. The organization serves Lincoln, Omaha, Scottsbluff, North Platte, and the surrounding areas.
